We have a new DJ joining us – T. MIXWELL

We are pleased to announce we have another new DJ joining us.

As a kid growing up in Chicago, IL on a significant diet of artists like Donna Summer, Temptations, Marvin Gaye, and Chi-lites, as well as Kwame, Earth Wind and Fire, Punk, New Wave, and Rock; T. Mixwell knocked out any preconceived notions of what type of music she would pursue when she followed her path towards her love of Classical Music. It wasn’t until her early teens when she discovered her passion for House music, by accident, while listening to her brother play records in his bedroom, and soon found herself going to parties/raves in the mid to late nineties. She got her calling to move from dance floor to DJ booth soon after, and once educated in the basics of holding a mix on a pair of belt-driven Gemini’s and solidifying her skills, she quickly moved to Technic 1200’s and continued forward without a glance back.

T. Mixwell offers her dance floors unconventional concoctions of House, Techno, and Minimal; all stirred into one big melting pot of edgy banging fun.

Her show will be Wednesdays 8pm to 10pm (GMT)

He started playing in local pubs and clubs in his home town of Huddersfield in the early 80’s and by the age of 13 had a weekend residency. Always having an interest in all genres of dance music, towards the end of the 80’s he began going to some of  illegal raves that were taking place and started  buying and playing more of the tracks that were been played at these raves and underground clubs. During the 90’s he decided to widen his horizon and played at a number of clubs and bars around the UK, and also took up slots on a number of local pirate radio stations. Today he continues to build his music collection and still DJ’s as often as possible playing a varying range of oldskool tracks. sapphire

We have New DJ’s joining us – DEFLECTED MUSIC

We are pleased to announce we have new DJ’s joining us.

Deflected Music, and all that it encompasses, has been created by a small group of dedicated D.J’s and Producers hailing from and around the North of England.
Every member of the Deflected Music team all have a minimum of 15 years experience in and around the underground dance music scene, actively playing, promoting and collaborating with world renown venues, club-nights and pioneers of the underground scene.

Picture Tony Sowerby was born 1976 in his home city of York, at a very young age he found his love for a nice melodically happy feeling to his musical taste, artists like Michael Jackson, Bee Gees, and Queen being his music influences up to leaving school in the early 90s. It was then that he found his true love, electronic music! There was something about the synthesized sound that made him fall in love with the music; he then spent the next 4 years visiting the major clubs, Gate Crasher, God’s Kitchen, Cream, Pacha and the infamous Orbit, then he went travelling to Ibiza and Majorca for his dose of that synthesized sound. At the age of 22 tony started to learn how to mix records like the pro dj’s he was watching every week, picking the skills up very fast and playing the right music at house parties, and one or two  out door, in the woods gatherings, it was not long before he were behind the decks in bars and clubs, teaming up with some of his music loving friends and giving birth to such events as R3tox, Public House and Mad House, where he brought his own electronic vibe with him and put on some awesome events bringing in people from outside the town to enjoy the sounds these guys were playing. Soon he was to be playing many events; from Scotland to wales to England, this soon developed into playing events and clubs in various European cities, and coastal festivals, throughout 2007-2009 finally Later he became the host and resident DJ at SYLD Global, the host night for winning DJ’s from around Europe, Canada and south Africa; held at super club Media Park in the beautiful city of Ljubljana in Slovenia, also making many radio appearances on stations in Chicago and south America, south Africa, uk and Slovenia,   Late 2009 tony took some time out to enjoy his baby daughter , later returning the the music arena  he had to be involved again with something new,  turning his hand to the studio, and with help of his DJing radio and electronic music experience, and advice from  friends already working in studios he soon found his way round.  Tony soon found out that his love for that sweet melodic and progressive sound was not only in his choice of records, but also in the music he had started to produce. Rapidly building a collection of tracks, it was not long before he had his debut release as a producer, where he already has a good keen fan-base waiting to hear his sounds of ecliptic electro/tech  and progressive house music. and already in 2013 having two of his tracks played on bbc radio and 2 releses onto itunes

Picture G Patto had no choice of music being a part of his life. At an early age the sounds of Led Zeppelin, Genesis and Jesus Jones coming out the of his Mums car stereo whilst being driven into York to watch his Uncles Band. At the age of 15 he picked up the Bass Guitar. He got involved with a local York youth project with The Old Dairy Studios – a 5 day song writing and performance project called “the mega jam” – which ended with a live gig at Fibbers York. This gave him the taste to start his own band and after a few years and unsuccessful  bands later, he joined a band called “Honey Tone Codey” – a female fronted grunge rock band. His first involvement was to help the band record its first E.P – titled “Pink & Clean”. This was played on the John Peel (rip) show on BBC Radio One. The band played from as far North as Durham down to Covent Gardens. Then he was smacked in the face by the club scene. He saw his first dj at the Orbit at a club called Afterdark. This spurred him on into Dance music, DJ’ing and Production. It was the year 2000 when he properly began DJ’ing, playing Progressive Trance, inspired by DJ’s like Sasha & Digweed, Steve Lawler, Carl Cox etc. He has played around Yorkshire and was resident DJ for three different nights  at the Rhythm Room in Hull. Playing along- side names like Anne Savage – Uphoria and Simon Dale f Galaxy FM.  He was also Resident DJ at the Mint Club, Leeds, at a night called “Resident”. This was a tribal house night which boasted names like Pilliavin and Zimbardo (Distraekt), Justin Drake (Peace Division) and The Shafunkers. This led to him getting his first few gigs abroad over in Poland and Slovenia. After a few years away from the scene for what seemed like an eternity, he had his first few release on an independent Serbian record Label. He is still pursuing this and is now developing Deflected Music – a new events, Radio show and with a Record Label in the pipe-line, with many gigs already planned, this will be a good year for G Patto and Deflected Music.

Check out their show Saturdays 12am to 2am(GMT) starts 6th of July
